A "Twins Ruby" magnet consists of two ice blue felt discs and a disc magnet with a diameter of 15 mm. The high-quality product is hand-made in Switzerland and Germany.

This magnet is also suitable for delicate surfaces, for instance, if you want to pin a shopping list to a Porsche Cayenne, where it will be noticed for sure.

"Goodbye, ruby tuesday
Who is gonna hang that name on you? ..."

Twins Ice: These magnets in the gift box are also available in ice-blue.

The "Twins" are hand-made. Therefore, only 8 - 10 magnets can be produced per hour. First, felt sheets are cut into handy 6 cm thick stripes.

Afterwards the felt discs are punched out. The hand-made punch iron is clamped into a drill rig.

In order to degrease the magnets, they are attached to an acrylic rod with embedded steel screw, so they won't shift and can be turned easily. For mass production eight of them are attached to a wooden bar. For degreasing 100% cotton cosmetic pads soaked in acetone are used.

The felt discs are now skid-proof in an aluminium holding fixture. You can turn this fixture while dispersing the glue (with a toothpick!). Since felt is very absorbent the glue is applied in two layers. It's an art to use just the right amount of glue: As much as necessary, so the felt stays on the magnet, and as little as possible, so the glue won't show at the edge when pressed down.

Once the glue is applied evenly, the aluminium holding fixture is taken off the acrylic base, put on a tabletop and pressed down. A pin on the inside pushes the felt discs out and they can be taken off. 16 of these fixtures are used in production.

Thereafter, the two felt discs are pressed to the disc magnet for 5 - 6 hours. Two acrylic cylinders with glued on disc magnets provide the magnetic attraction to create the necessary pressure.

In the following, the magnets are placed on steel bars to air out until they are ready to be packaged 2 days after.

The "Twins" are a creation of the Berlin designer Burkhard Nolte. "Commonly used ferrite magnets are not suitable for my work. After discovering the neodymium magnets from supermagnete.de, their characteristics and manifold scopes of design instantly inspired and convinced me."
