FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions (and their answers!)
Which magnets are suitable for cleaning glass?
With the help of magnets, hard to get to places (e.g. aquariums, thin glass containers) can be easily cleaned. It's best to use one magnets on the inside and one on the outside. Iron can be used as an alternative counterpart as well.
You can find all our customer applications on the topic of "cleaning" here.
You need to keep the following points in mind:
- Thickness of the object that needs to be cleaned
- Scratching of the object that needs to be cleaned
- Rusting of magnets
Adhesive force diagram of article S-15-08-N
1. Thickness of the object that needs to be cleaned
When you clean glass, there won't be direct contact between magnet and object. The adhesive force decreases quickly with distance. The thicker the glass of the object, the stronger the magnets need to be.Our disc magnet S-15-08-N, for instance, only has an adhesive force of approx. 350 g at a distance of 5 mm (as opposed to 6,7 kg at direct contact).
To clean a triple-glazed window, one of our customers used two DEATH MAGNETS, with protection caps however (see application Window cleaning). We clearly advise against this application, because such a great distance requires extremely strong magnets, which could break your window.
