A valuable tip

I am surprised that no one else shared this tip already:
I had to get a thread through a seamed sail, for which I used a not too sharp needle. But how do I get the needle through the seam? Previously, I managed to do it with a lot of patience and effort by pushing together the fabric.

Magnet as threading aid

But then I had a better idea: Why not use a magnet to pull the needle through the seam? I always have a few super magnets on the wall of my workshop, so I had the right one handy: a disc magnet S-15-08-N. It worked right away.

Other applications

This clever trick does not only work with sails, but also with clothing when, for instance, a waist band has been pulled out.
