Ferrous strips & metal strips

Self-adhesive ferrous tape or self-adhesive metal tape lets you create a suitable surface for magnets in no time. Use magnets to attach photos, notes, postcards, recipes, business cards, lesson plans and more to these strips. Now you can have everything always within view and create a little order in your home, office or workshop. The ferrous strips and the metal strips can both be cut to size with scissors.

Please note: Ferrous tape and metal tape are not magnets. These strips simply provide a surface for you to attach magnets. On the other hand, our magnetic adhesive tape is indeed magnetic.

The difference between ferrous tape and metal tape

Even though the names ferrous tape and metal tape sound like the same product, they are actually products with different characteristics.
  • Metal tape: A strip made of thin iron with an adhesive surface on the back.
  • Ferrous tape: A flexible plastic strip containing iron particles and with an adhesive surface on the back.


Suitable magnets for ferrous tape and metal tape

Since the self-adhesive ferrous strip and the self-adhesive metal strip are both significantly thinner than surfaces that are completely metal, not all magnets are suitable. We recommend to only use small neodymium magnets and office magnets.

Heavy pot magnets or heavy neodymium magnets are not suitable for use on ferrous tape and metal tape. You better attach those to metal strips or magnetic boards.

Outdoor vs. indoor use

We recommend using ferrous tape and metal tape for dry indoor applications. If these strips are used outside or in wet environments (i.e. bathrooms) for a prolonged amount of time, they could start to rust which would render them unusable as a surface for magnets.
